Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "D. Roberts & Co., Utica."
 
This is the work of David Roberts who potted in Utica from 1827-1830 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 69).
 
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Shape,  Applied Handle, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip.  Stands 12 1/2" tall.
 
Very Good Condition.  A 3/8" chip on the back of the spout, 5/8" chip on the handle, and a 3" Y-shaped hairline at the base whose tail wraps under 2 1/2".  Not visible inside (closeup).  No base chips (the one visible is in the making) and no restoration.
