Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "D. Roberts & Co., Utica."
 
This is the work of David Roberts who potted in Utica from 1827-1830 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 69).
 
This beauty features an Early Ovoid Shape, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip Arising from Ground Cover.  Brilliant Cobalt.  Stands 12 1/2" tall. 
 
Excellent Condition.  A flat 1/2" chip on the underside at the edge.  That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Typical manufacturing imperfections like the firing chip in the handle and scattered kiln touches.  Remarkable for being 200 years old!
