Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 3 Gallon Stoneware Cream Pot made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."

 

This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 55-58).

 

Thus beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Huge Brushed Cobalt Tobacco Leaf Decoration.  The leaf is 11" long and composed of 22 brush strokes!  Measures 12" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.    

 

Excellent Condition.  Traces of water glass staining on the back and three chips on the right side at the bottom edge (1/2", 3/4", 1 3/4").  No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
