Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Lidded Jar made and stamped by "Cowden & Wilcox, Harrisburg, PA."
This is the mark of John Wallace Cowden and Isaac Wilcox who ran the pottery in Harrisburg with this stamp from 1863 to 1880 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners , pp. 55-58).
Thus beauty features a Small Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Sideways Tulip. The tulip has 6 leaves and a blossom with 3 petals. Comes with a lid. Stands 9" tall.
Excellent Condition. A faint 3" surface craze line on the left side. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains or restoration. The lid has three pings on the edge (1/2" to 1").
An attractive jar wearing a signature decoration by Cowden and Wilcox.
