Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug marked "Cortland."
This is the work of Madison Woodruff who ran the pottery in Cortland from 1849-1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and Three Large Brushed Cobalt Tulips Blossoms Radiating from a Center Dot. A simple, attractive decoration! Stands 13 1/2" tall.
Very Good Condition. A 5/8" chip on the left side of the spout, a minor 1/4" chip on the underside at the edge, and some light and scattered staining. No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
