Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Little 1 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Clark & Fox, Athens."

This the stamp of Nathan Clark who founded the Clark family pottery in Athens N.Y. in 1805 and ran it with his partner, Ethan S. Fox, from 1829-1843 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 66).

This beauty features a Small Size, Ovoid Form, Tooled Shoulder, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Brushed Cobalt Tulip in Bright Cobalt that Fills the Front. The tulip has 5 leaves and a blossom with 6 petals.  Much larger decoration than was typical of this period.  Stands 10 1/2" tall.

Very Good Condition.  A 2" hairline on the front bottom that wraps under 2" (closeup), and some staining from use.  No spout chips, cracks, or restoration.  A stone ping on the spout in the making.
