    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this early 8" Ovoid Jug.  

     

    This beautycan be attributed to Frederick Carpenter who worked in Charlestown, Massachusetts from 1804-1827 and made pieces for the Boston market (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 48-49).

     

    This jug has all the indications of being Carpenter's work:  An Early Ovoid Form, Reeded Spout, and Ochre Dip Top and Bottom.  Stands only 8" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  Typical light staining from being 200 years old.  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Old stopper inside.
