Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this handsome 1 Gallon Jug stenciled "C. N. Y. P., Utica, N.Y."
The initials stand for the Central New York Pottery which was a name assigned to the Whites of Utica N.Y. Pottery in the 1870's (William C. Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, 2nd ed., pp. 292-293).
Circa 1880, this beauty features a Creamy Gray Glaze, and a Bold Stencil with Large 3/4" and 1" Letters in Shiny, Dark Cobalt. Stands 10 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some light staining near the very bottom. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
