Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 5 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "C. W. Braun, Buffalo, N.Y."
This is the mark of Charles W. Braun who ran the old Heiser pottery in Buffalo from 1857-1896 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 75).
Dating around 1870, this beauty features the Pottery Stamp, Capacity Number, and a Folk Art Daisy Decoration Created with a Slip Cup. The daisy has two large striped leaves and a blossom with five striped petals. Measures 13" tall and 12" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Water glass staining inside and some outside, and a 1/2" chip at the base. No rim chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
