Item 13214
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "C. Hart & Son, Sherburne."
This is the stamp of Charles Hart and his son, Nahum, who potted in Sherburne, N.Y. under this stamp from 1866 to 1885 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features a Large Size, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Capacity Stamp, and a Flamboyant Brushed Cobalt Plow Flower. The flower is so named (by me) because it resembles a horse drawn plow. The flower is executed in shiny and bright cobalt. Measures 11 3/4" tall and 11 3/4" wide across the top.
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip inside the rim, a few glaze flakes on the right side at the bottom, and some scattered light staining. That's it! No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
