    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Wax Sealer Merchant Jar made for "C. F. Hetzel & Co., Groceries & C., Cumberland, MD." 

     

    Hetzel's store was located on 47 Baltimore Street in Cumberland.  He is listed in the 1876 Cumberland Directory as a grocer, but is not listed as being in business in the 1884 Directory.  Hetzel had this jar made in Greensboro or New Geneva Pennsylvania about 1880.  

     

    This beauty features the Wax Sealer Form with Grooved Rim to Seal the Jar with Wax and a Tin Lid, and Three Lines of Stenciled Advertising Surrounding a Small Floral.  Stands 8" tall.

     

    Very Good Condition.  Some small chips around the inside of the Rim and two outside (3/8", 1/2").  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
