  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Outstanding 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration Stamped "H. MYERS"

     

    Henry Myers was a merchant who ran a Stoneware Manufactory in Baltimore, Maryland in the 1820's.  The pottery was operated by the New York trained Henry Remmey and his son, Henry Harrison Remmey. 

     

    Dating around 1825, this beauty features an Early Ovoid Form with Handles, the Pottery Stamp and a Floral Garland all the way around Reminiscent of Decoration at the Alexandria, Virginia area by Millburn and others of the period.  Bold cobalt!  Stands 10 1/8" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  Two flat 1/4" chips on the top of the rim, a 2" section of minor chips on the back bottom edge, and two flat chips on the underside at the edge (1/2", 5/8").  That's it!  No handle chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.

     

    A very early piece of Baltimore pottery with Remmey connections.
