  • Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Circa 1820 Stoneware 1 Gallon Ovoid Jar.

The decoration makes it very likely that this jar is the work of William Morgan or Morgan and Thomas Amos who worked in Baltimore in the 1820's.

This beauty features an Ovoid Form, Flared Rim, Vertical Handles, a Vine and Berries Garland on the Front, Three Dotted Stripes on the Back, a Capacity Number Encircled with Dots Under One Handle, and Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals.  Stands 9 1/2" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A minor nibble and narrow 1/2" chip on the rim, two chips on the ends of the right handle (3/4" each).  That's it!  No inner rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. A couple faint 3/4" drying lines on the base in the making.
