Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Merchant Jar made for "C. F. Hetzel & Co., Cumberland, MD." 
 
Hetzel ran a grocery store located on 47 Baltimore Street in Cumberland.  He is listed in the 1876 Cumberland Directory as a grocer, but is not listed as being in business in the 1884 Directory.  Hetzel had this jar made in Greensboro or New Geneva Pennsylvania about 1880.  
 
This beauty features a Small Size and Four Lines of Stenciled Advertising. Stands 7 1/2" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  Some very light staining.  That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
