Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "Burger & Co., Rochester, N.Y."

 

This is the mark of John Burger, Jr. who ran the family's pottery under this stamp from 1877-1879 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).

 

This beauty sports a Large Flared Rim, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Freehand Capacity Number "2" Framed by a Wreath with Bottom Bow.  The decoration is executed with a slip cup in bright cobalt.  Measures 9 1/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.

 

Very Good Condition.  A y-shaped hairline below the right handle only seen 1" inside (closeup), a surface craze line on the bottom not seen inside, and some staining from use. No chips, cracks, or restoration.
