Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "Burger & Co., Rochester, N.Y."
 
This is the mark of John Burger, Jr. who ran the family's pottery under this stamp from 1877-1879 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
 
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and the Freehand Capacity Number "2" Framed by a Large Wreath with Bottom Bow.  The decoration is executed with a slip cup with precision. Measures 9 3/4" tall and 10 1/4" wide across the top. 
 
Excellent Condition.  Traces of water glass staining inside, some staining on the back, and a 1/2" chip on the top of the rim.  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
