Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this very uncommon Blue and White Stoneware Allspice Jar in the Grape Cluster pattern.
This piece is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry & Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, p. 198. As you know, extremely uncommon, especially with the original lids.
Circa 1900-1920, this beauty features a Grape Trellis on Both Sides, with the Front also Bearing the Label "Allspice." The lid repeats the grapevine motif. Stands 3 1/2" tall.
Excellent Condition. The base is as made. The lid has a 1/4" chip on the underside at the edge and minor nibbles on the bottom of the seating ring on the underside. It has a 1" contact mark on the edge in the making.
