    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this attractive Blue and White Stoneware Pitcher in the Butterfly Pattern.  

     

    This pitcher is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encylopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 25-26).

     

    Dating around 1920, this beauty features an Orange Peel Background that Hosts a Roped Medallion with a Butterfly on Each Side.  The decoration is framed top and bottom with a roped border of smaller butterflies.  The rope motif is continued in the handle.  Strong mold lines and coloration.  Stands 8 1/4" tall.

     

    Excellent Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.  A small kiln touch on the front and back bottom in the making.
