Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous and uncommon Blue and White Pitcher in the Columns and Arches Pattern.

Dating to the early 20th century, this beauty features Columns with Ionic Capitals Bearing Up Brick Arches.  A dotted handle with mortice and tenon detail, and a raised rim with diagonal lattice complete the decoration. The coloring is diffused blue with the top and bottom border more blue than the center. Measures 8 3/4" tall.

This beauty is featured in Taylor and Lowrance, Collector's Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, on page 32. As you know, this is a tough piece to find! This example has very strong and crisp mold lines, and excellent color.

Excellent Condition.  A narrow 3/4" nibble inside the rim (closeup), two pinhead-size nibbles on the other side, and a minor 3/8" chip on the bottom of the footer.   That's it!  No outer rim chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Piece of excess clay inside at the bottom and glaze skips outside on the underside in the making.
