Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Monumental 5 Gallon Merchant Script Jug made for "Bleecker & Corcoran, Wines, Liquors, & C., Albany, N.Y."
It was made and stamped by the Fort Edward Stoenware Co., Fort Edward, N.Y." This company was a joint venture of Andrew Haxstun and George Guy from 1875 to 1883 (William Ketchum, Jr., Potters and Potteries of New York State, 1650-1900, pp. 250-253).
This beauty features a Large 5 Gallon Size, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Three Lines of Cobalt Script Advertising. Obviously this company did some wholesaling as this jug attests. Stands 19 3/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. Some faint stain runs. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. A horizontal surface drying line near the base in the back in the making.
