Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "Ballard & Brothers, Burlington, VT."
This is one of the pottery stamps of the brothers Alfred, Orrin, and Hiram Ballard who made stoneware in Burlington, Vermont from 1856-1867 (See William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 45-46).
This beauty sports the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Triple Honeysuckle Decoration. Stands 11" tall.
Fair Condition. A 1/2" chip inside the rim, a 3 1/2" hairline from the rim to the left of the pottery stamp (closeup 1), a 4" hairline from the rim in the back, and staining from use. No outer rim or base chips or restoration.
