Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Batter Jug made and stamped by "E. & L. P. Norton, Bennington, VT."
This is the mark of Edward Norton and Luman Preston Norton, the son of Julius Norton, who worked together in the family pottery from 1861-1881 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 44)
This beauty sports the Batter Jug Form with Albany Slip Glaze, Pottery Stamp, and What Appears to be the Original Handle. Stands 9 1/2" tall.
Good Condition. Chips around the rim, spout, and bottom handle as shown. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
