Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this superb 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made in and stamped "Lyons."
This jug is easy to attribute to Thompson Harrington who ran the pottery in Lyons, N.Y. from 1852 to 1872 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 73-74).
This beauty sports a Semi-Ovoid Form, Strong Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand 3 Capacity Number, and a Two Large Brushed Tulips Executed with Bright and Shiny Cobalt. Harrington perfected the art of stoneware decorating and the manufacture of cobalt! Stands 16 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A minor 1" surface craze line (closeup) and some light staining. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
