Item 12111
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 4 Gallon Preserve Jar with Lid made and stamped by "Haxstun & Co., Fort Edward, N.Y."
This is the work of Andrew K. Haxstun who ran a pottery in Fort Edward from 1875 to 1882 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 68).
This beauty features a Larger Size, the Pottery Stamp on the Shoulder, and a Large Bird Poised on a Branch Decoration. The larger size jar allowed the artist to make a larger than the usual rendering of this beloved bird and with many individual feathers too! Stands 14 tall.
Very Good Condition. A surface 1 1/2" ping line on top of the right handle and residual water glass staining from use. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. The lid has a 1/2" chip on the knob, a 3/4" chip on the top edge, and water glass staining on the underside.
