    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is a rare 2 Gallon Ovoid Jar made and stamped by "P. Klopfenstein."  
    

     
    

    I am not able find this potter in any of my reference works, but the jar clearly dates around 1850 and I would attribute it to Ohio.  It is interesting that the Klopfenstein treadle pottery wheel was made in Ohio up until recently.  Any connection?  
    

     
    

    Very Good Condition.  Small chips around the rim, a 1" chip on the underside, and some light staining from use.  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Alligator glaze in the making.
