Item 1232
Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Decorated 3 Gallon Crock from Northeast Ohio around the Akron Area.
Dating to the mid 19th century, this beauty features a Tall and Narrow Form with Tooled Rim and Shoulder Band, and a Bold Brushed Cobalt Tulip. The tulip has ground cover, 9 leaves, and a blossom with dotted center. A freehand capacity number "3" underscored three times completes the decoration. Measures 12" tall and 9 1/2" wide across the top.
As you know, Ohio potters preferred the ovoid jar form, so early crocks from Ohio are not common.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip on the back of the left handle and chipping along the underside of the right handle. That's it! No rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
