Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "W. States." 
 
This is the mark of the cousins Adam States, Jr. and William States, Jr. who ran their pottery in Stonington, Connecticut together from 1812 to 1821 and then by William alone from 1821-1823 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 57). 
 
This beauty features a Small Size, Ovoid Shape, Reeded Neck, and Pottery Stamp.  Stands 12" tall.
 
Very Good Condition.  A faint surface ping on the spout (closeup 1), and a half dozen chips on the footer (1/4" to 3/4"), a couple with short surface lines attached (closeup 2).  No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Two stone pings in the making.
