Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 3 Gallon Cream Pot made and stamped by "J. Duntze, Manufact'r, New Haven, CT."
This is the work of John Duntze who potted in New Haven from 1833 to 1852 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 58, 59).
Dating around 1840, this beauty features the Cream Pot Form, Pottery Stamp with Albany Slip Wash, and Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals. Measures 10 3/4" tall and 10 1/2" wide across the top.
Good Condition. Two chips inside the rim (1/2", 3/4"), three chips outside the rim (1/8" to 3/4"), a chip on the right handle (1 1/2"), a 1/4" chip and minor nibbles on the base, and some glaze flakes under each handle and on one kiln touch (closeup). No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
