    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this early 1 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "Goodwin & Webster."

     

    This is the work of Horace Goodwin and Mack Webster who ran the pottery in Hartford from 1831-1840 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 60-61).

     

    This beauty features the Early Ovoid Form, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and Cobalt Accents at the Handle Terminals.  Stands 11 1/2" tall. 

     

    Excellent Condition.  A 3/4" chip on the top of the handle that is partly in the making, and some light staining from use.  No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  A kiln touch on each side in the making.
