Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1/2 Gallon Stoneware Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "W. States." 
 
This is the mark of the cousins Adam States, Jr. and William States, Jr. who ran their pottery in Stonington, Connecticut together from 1812 to 1821 and then by William alone from 1821-1823 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 57). 
 
This beauty features a Small Size, Ovoid Shape, Reeded Neck, Reddish Brown Slip Glaze, and Pottery Stamp.  Stands 9 3/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" flake and inventory numbers on the underside. That's it!  No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.  Two stone pings in the making.
