Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Canning Jar made for "W. A. Ellis, Racine, Ohio." 
 
Ellis ran a general store in Racine. 
 
This jar was made in SW Pennsylvania in either Greensboro or New Geneva around 1880.
 
This beauty features a Tooled Rim with Inner Lid-seating Ledge and the Merchant Advertising Stenciled on the Front.  Stands 8 1/2" tall. 
 
Excellent Condition.  Two 1/8" nibbles and a 1/2" chip inside the rim.  That's it!  No outer rim or base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
