Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Most Unusual Yellow Ware Umbrella Stand.
Probably made in Ohio around Zanesville in the early 20th century. this beauty has an unusual shape. Overall there is a ribbed form with a narrowing at the neck for an embossed rope decoration, tappered body with borders of dots of increasing diameter between ribs, and a careful honey brown and light green chicken wire sponging. Stands 22" tall.
The unusual feature is opening at the top on one side. I have never seen this before. It would provide easier access to the walking sticks and umbrellas. A custom job?
Excellent Condition. Some craze lines on the underside. That's it! No chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
