Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this gorgeous Blue and White Spongeware Bean Pot.
This beauty is attributed to the Uhl Pottery of Huntingburg, Indiana which specialized in these pots. They were in business in Huntingburg from 1891 into the 20th century (Anna Mary Feldmeyer and Kara Holtzman, Uhl Pottery, 2nd ed., p. 45).
This bean pot came in at least three different sizes, and this is the large 1 gallon size.
Thie beauty featues beautiful blue sponging and the original lid. Measures 6 1/2" tall and 7 1/2" wide across the bottom.
Excellent condition. The base has a minor 1/8" nibble on the seating ring inside and the lid has a 1/4" chip on the underside near the edge. Otherwise as made!
