Item 12221

Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 1 Gallon Merchant Jug made for "T. Coughlin, Boston."

The decoration indicates that it was made by the Somerset Potters' Works of Somerset, Massachusetts.  It was owned by Leonard and Benjamin G. Chace from 1847-1882 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 51).

This beauty features the Company Advertising Impressed on the Shoulder and Washed in Cobalt, and a Sweet Little Plant with Many Leaves and Two Blossoms with Five Dotted Petals. A slip cup created the decoration using bright and shiny cobalt.  Stands 10 3/4" tall.

Excellent Condition.  A 1/4" chip on the left side of the spout, a small ping on the bottom of the same side (closeup), and some very light scattered staining.  No hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
