Coming to you by Doc's Crocks is this Superb 6 Gallon Stoneware Crock made and stamped by "H. Purdy." 
 
This is the mark of Henry Purdy who ran the family pottery in Mogadore, Ohio starting around 1840.   (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 17-27).
 
This beauty features a Squared Rim, Applied Handles with Cobalt Accent on the Front Terminals, the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Swipe, and an Large Exuberant Brushed Cobalt Plant with Curly Leaves that Fills the Front.  Measures 14 1/2" tall and 11" wide across the top. 
 
You rarely see this much cobalt decoration on stoneware from the Purdy family of potters. 
 
Excellent Condition. A 1/2" chip inside the rim and four chips outside the rim (1/4" to 1").  That's it!  No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
