Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 3 Gallon Stoneware Jug made and stamped on the right shoulder, "Franklin Factory, 1834, S. Q[uigley, Cin.].  The pottery stamp incorporates a profile of Benjamin Franklin.

What intrigues me about this jug is that it has all the characteristics of being made in the James River, Virginia region.  The form, color of the clay, and decoration all scream "Virginia."  Did Quigley import his stoneware or have a Virginia potter make it??? 
 
This beauty features a narrow spout, generously looped handle, and a bright brushed cobalt blossom composed of 16 bold strokes of cobalt.  Stands 16 1/2" tall. 
 
Very Good Condition with professional restoration.  Two chips at the base/underside (1/2", 1").  The handle has been professionally restored.  Recess on the back in the making.
