Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Pair of Stoneware Recumbant Lion Figurals attributed to Ohio.
Dating to the late 19th century, these beauties feature a Two-Step Base and a Regal Lion Resting Upon It! Albany slip glaze. Measure 6 3/4" long, 4" wide, and 4" tall.
Excellent Condition. The lion on the left has a 3/8" flake on top of the base by his paws, and a 1/2" chip on the underside at the edge by his tail. Otherwise as made. What look like chip on the side of the base are glaze skips in the making. The lion on the right has an 1/8" chip on the top of the bottom step of the platform, minor nibbles around the base, and some glaze wear on high point on the back, possibly from use as a window stop. No chips to the lion, or any hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
