Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jar whose decoration indicates that it is the work of William and Moses Porter of Luthersville, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.

 

William and Moses Porter founded their pottery in 1853 and ran it until 1865 (Phil Shaltenbrand, Big Ware Turners, pp. 112-113). 

 

This beauty features a Semi-Squared Rim, Squared Handles, and the Porter's Distinctive Sideways Tulip Decoration.  Stands 11" tall.

 

Excellent Condition.  Minor roughness under the left handle.  Otherwise, as made.  A couple kiln touches and the back bottom of the right handle is detached in the making.
