Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "S. Hart, Fulton."
This is the stamp of Samuel Hart who potted in Fulton, New York with this stamp from 1840-1876 (see William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, pp. 74-75).
This beauty features a Small 2 Gallon Size, Tooled Shoulder, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number Riding a Tornado, and a Pair of Love Birds with Dotted Breasts. The love birds were a signature decoration for this potter. Measures 9 1/2" tall and 10" wide across the top.
Very Good Condition. Some staining from use. No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration. Four stone pings inside, one on the front rim, one on the pottery stamp, and one on the back bottom-- all in the making.
