    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 3 Gallon Crock made and stamped by "A. K. Ballard, Burlington, VT."

     

    This is the mark of Alfred Ballard who ran the family pottery under this stamp from 1867-1874 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 46).

     

    This beauty sports a Rounded Tooled Rim, Applied Handles, Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Brushed Cobalt Cluster of 79 Grapes on a Stem with 6 Leaves.  A medium gray glaze with bright cobalt make an extraordinary contrast.  Measures 10 1/4" tall and 11" wide across the top.  

     

    Excellent Condition.  Some scattered light staining. That's it!  No chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.  Two stonepings on the front in the making.
