Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Small Lidded Jar made and stamped twice on the underside by "E. Schrop."
This is the stamp of Edwin G. Schrop who potted in Springfield Township, Ohio with his brother, William J. They began their pottery around 1871 (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 80-82).
This beauty features a Lidded Jar Form Uncommon for Ohio Stoneware, Pleasing Shape with Ringed Handles, Albany Slip Glaze, and the Double Pottery Stamp on the Underside. Stands 4 3/4" tall. The lid is a redware lid painted to match the jar and is not original to the piece.
Very Good Condition. Three minor 1/8" nibbles on the rim and restoration for a 1/2" chip on the underside of the rim (closeup). No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
