    Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Blue and White Stoneware Butter Crock in the Butterfly Pattern.  


    This crock is discussed in Terry Taylor and Terry and Kay Lowrance, Collector's Encylopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware, pp. 108).  


    However, I can find no reference to a butter crock in this pattern this size of 6" tall and 9 1/2" wide.  It is cake crock size! 


    Dating around 1920, this beauty features an Orange Peel Background that Hosts Four Butterflies.  The decoration is framed at the top by a blue band.  Strong mold lines and diffused coloration.  


    Excellent Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
