Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Jug made and stamped by "Pruden & Olcott, 185 Duane St., N.Y."

This is the work of John Mills Pruden who manufactured stoneware in Elizabethtown, N.J. from 1835 to 1877.  From 1865 to 1871 Augustus Olcott was a distributor of his stoneware in New York on Duane Street --thus the unusual stamp (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 82).  When Manhattan was no longer a viable place to make stoneware, many potteries made their wares outside the city and had distributors in the city to sell them.

This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash and a Brushed Tulip Decoration with Two Leaves and a Blossom with Four Petals.  Very bright and shiny cobalt too! Stands 13 1/2" tall.

Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.   A stone ping on the left side at the shoulder in the making.
