Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare Jug made and Embossed by "The Ohio Stoneware, Akron, Ohio."
The Ohio Stoneware Company was founded by Henry Gibbs in Akron, Ohio and ran from 1881 to 1888. Pieces from this company are seldom found (F. Robert Treichler, A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, pp. 50-51).
This beauty features the Platform Shape with the Company Name Embossed around the Shoulder. Stands 11" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1/8" nibble on the spout, two chips at the base (1/4", 1/2"). That's it! No hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration. Some minor roughness on the platform in the back and right side from the kiln.
