Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug stamped, "N. A. White & Co., Binghamton."
This is the work of William Roberts, son-in-law of Noah White of the Whites Pottery of Utica, N.Y. He founded a branch of the family business in Binghamton in 1848 and ran it until 1888 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 71)
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, and a Large Folky Bird on a Branch Executed with a Slip Cup in Dark Cobalt. This birdie features a distinctive long beak and long tail feathers, while the branch is particularly elaborate. Stands 14 1/4" tall.
Excellent Condition. A 1" chip on the bottom of the left side. That's it! No spout chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.
