Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful 2 Gallon Southern Jug made and inscribed and dated on the Bottom by "Matthew Hewell, 1994" with the addition of the Christian fish symbol.  
 
Matthew Hewell is the fifth generation of Hewell potters, being born to Harold and Grace Hewell in 1972 (John Burrison, Brothers in Clay: The Story of Georgia Folk Pottery, p. 235). This would be an early work for this potter- he was only 22 years old at the time it was turned. 
 
This beauty features a Strap Handle, Rich Alkaline Glaze, and the Potter's Signature on the Bottom.  Stands 13 1/2" tall.
 
Exceptional Condition.  As made.  No damage of any kind.
