Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this wonderful Grotesque Jug made and signed on the bottom by Chester Hewett.
 
Chester Hewett is from the longstanding Hewell pottery family in Gilesville, Georgia.  He made face jugs in small quantities in the 1970's to 1900's (John A. Burrison, Brothers in Clay: The Story of Georgia Follk Pottery, pp. 48-49, 234-236).
 
This beauty feature has the Grotesque Head Form with Inset White Eyes and Teeth, as well as a Salamander on the Head!  Stands 9 3/4" tall.
 
Excellent Condtion.  A single pinhead-size nibble on one tooth.
