Coming to you from Doc's Crocks, is this wonderfull 2 Gallon Stoneware Jug whose decoration indicates that it was made by Riedinger & Caire of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Philip Riedinger and Adam Caire partnered in stoneware from 1857 to 1878 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware , p. 65).
This beauty features a Large Pheasant on a Stump Decoration. The pheasant features an backward gaze, dotted breast and wing, and long tail feathers. The stump has two dotted branches and rests in ground cover. Stands 14" tall.
