Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Rare 3 Gallon Ovoid Jug made and stamped by "J. Stadden, Summit Co., O."
 
A few works by this potter are known, especially flower pots and jugs, but little is known about him (F. Robert  Treichler,  A History of Northeast Ohio Stoneware, p. 113). 
 
Dating around 1850, this beauty features an Ovoid Shape, Pottery Stamp, and a Brushed Cobalt Double Tulip Decoration.  Stands 16" tall.
 
Very Good Condition. Some light staining and a dime-sized chip below the decoration, possibly in the making.  No spout or base chips, hairlines, cracks, or restoration.
