Coming to you from Doc's Crocks is this Gorgeous 2 Gallon Stoneware Preserve Jar made and stamped by "J. Fisher, & Co., Lyons, N.Y."
This jar is the work of Jacob Fisher who ran the pottery in Lyons, New York from 1872-1902 (William Ketchum, Jr., American Stoneware, p. 74).
This beauty features the Pottery Stamp with Cobalt Wash, Freehand Capacity Number, and a Brushed Cobalt Tulip Decoration. The tulip is composed of four leaves and a glossom with four petals. A simple but visually impactful decoration! Stands 11 3/4" tall.
Good Condition. Residual water glass staining inside, a 1 1/2" chip on the outside of the rim in the back, and a 1 1/2" hairline the left side at the bottom that wraps under 2" (closeup). No base chips, cracks, stains, or restoration.
